(1). Our children are a product of their shaping influences and Godward orientation to those shaping influences. Parenting involving providing the best shaping influences we can and shepherding their heart as they response to those experience.
(2). The heart is the well-spring of life and determines behavior. Expose heart issues not just behavioral issues. Our children were made to know and love God.
(3). You have authority over your children by God's designation. You are an agent of God.
(4). The chief of man is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever. We must continually present this worldview to them. Living for God is why were created.
(5). Biblical goals require biblical methods. We must reject worldly and substitute methods our culture presents.
(6). God gives parents two methos for childrearing: communication and the rod. They must be done correctly and woven together. You need to know and understand your children to communicate correctly. Children also need authority and to know that sin brings eternal corporal punishment from God. The rod gets attention and underscores what we're talking about with them.
