BOOK SUMMARY: REDEEMING MEMORY - CHAPTER 11 - GOD'S FOREVER REMEMBRANCE

God will complete the transformation of memory. This is called glorification. Our memories will no longer revolve around self. Our memories will not fail nor will they lead us away from God. Our memories will not just be Godward but they will be in Him (John 17:23-24).

WHAT WILL YOU FORGET IN HEAVEN?

1.    Forget The Ark - See Jeremiah 3:16. There will be no need to remember The Ark of the Covenant. God's glory will overshadow The Ark. There'll be no need for it.

2.    Forget The Former Trouble - See Isaiah 65:16-18.  Former troubles are forgotten. We will not dwell on them. Memory is not punitive but pedagogical. It points us to Christ's greater glory. We often classify memories as good or bad, but they are intended to affect our worship.  God will wipe away all that diminishes our worship of Him.  Millstones are turned to milestones.

WHAT WILL YOU RMEMBER IN HEAVEN?

1.    Remember God As King - The worship of God never ceases (Revelation 4:3-8).

2.    Remember God As Creator - See Revelation 4:11.

3.    Remember Jesus As Redeemer - Jesus is the One who is worthy to open the book  John sees the Lamb, stand as if slain The living creatures and elders sing a new song to the Lamb. Myriads of angels join in chorus. Then all creation sings (Revelation 5:4-13). We see and remember the One who was slain for our redemption.   Richard Baxter said, "Mercies remembered must be the matter of our everlasting thanks." In Revelation the saints remembered the first song of Mose which gave praise to God for victory over the Egyptians.

4.    Remember Jesus As Victor - See Revelation 19:6.  He reigns!!!  We praise God not just as Creator, but as Savior. This happens in part, due to memory. Our original clothing was torn by Adam. In Christ we are given robes of righteousness. Memory's created purpose is to bring glory to God. Memory will magnify the worship of God. Adam, in the garden of Eden, fell into sin. Jesus walked from the Garden of Gethsemane went to a cross and rose victorious from the grave. He is worthy of all our worship now and forever.
